Electroalfa International has invested over 500,000 euros in the last two years in developing a modern training center for its employees, part of a broader initiative—the Alfa Academy—dedicated to professional training in technical fields. The investment includes fitting out a 100-seat amphitheater and training spaces that reproduce production workshops at full scale.
In addition to this investment, the company has allocated supplementary funds worth over 100,000 euros for dual education programs, run in partnership with technological high schools and universities in the region, as well as for apprenticeship programs conducted in its factories. To date, over 250 students have benefited from support within these programs, either through internships, scholarships, or applied training.
Such investments come within a worrying context for the Romanian labor market, which faces an acute shortage of well-trained technical staff. According to Eurostat data, only 18.7%** of young people were employed in 2023, compared to a European average of 35.2%**, and youth unemployment stood at over 20%** last year in Romania. The situation is even more difficult in rural areas and small towns, where the lack of employment opportunities significantly limits the integration of young people into the labor market.
“Alfa Academy is our way of investing in people, in their potential, in their professional journey, and in the future of the Romanian industry. We have created a space that offers our young people and employees access to practical training, essential skills, and an environment that encourages continuous learning. We believe that technical training means not just qualification, but also confidence, stability, and a real chance to build a career. Through educational partnerships and internal programs, we aim to be concrete support for those who want to grow, adapt, and contribute to a stronger and more competitive industry.” stated Stefan Petrea, CEO of Electroalfa International.
The Alfa Academy functions as an integrated platform with four strategic directions: management team training, qualification of new employees, multi-skilling (which allows employees to adapt to multiple trades), and dual education, aimed at future employees.
This last direction, dual education, is supported by a network of educational partnerships that bridge the gap between the school environment and industry. Students from four technological high schools in Botoșani County annually participate in internships at Electroalfa factories, in stamping, welding, and mechanical fitting workshops, under the coordination of tutors and accompanying teachers.
At the university level, the partnership with the "Ștefan cel Mare" University of Suceava introduces a dual education model, active until 2026. Students work three days a week at the company and attend courses two days a week, benefiting from a monthly scholarship and an employment contract. Currently, 11 students are enrolled in the program, with the objective of reaching 20 scholarships in the fields of Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
Through the Alfa Academy, Electroalfa International has created more than a training program; it has created a space where passion, courage, and learning meet to open new paths.
